Robert Tanner reporting from the Indianapolis US Open: The big news so far is that in round 2, IM Alex Lenderman (GM title pending) who is the number 1 seed was knocked off by Matthew Michaelides (ELO 2095). The game is posted below. Per chess engine analysis, Alex was coasting along with a good game until he gave away his advantage with a pair of ill-advised rook moves (when Queen moves were needed) while under some time pressure: 37. Rb3? [37. Qf2] and then 40. Rf3? [40. Qc5].
